A step towards climate-neutral construction

Reducing our carbon footprint is a top priority, not just for Derome, but for the entire construction and infrastructure sector, which currently contributes approximately 40 percent of the world's total greenhouse gas emissions. It is crucial that we collectively challenge and refine our construction methods.

Reducing our carbon footprint is a top priority, not just for Derome, but for the entire construction and infrastructure sector, which currently contributes approximately 40 percent of the world's total greenhouse gas emissions. It is crucial that we collectively challenge and refine our construction methods.

Our research and development project, known as "Klivet," is specifically focused on selecting materials and solutions that offer lower climate impact without increasing costs. If successful, these choices and solutions can be seamlessly integrated into our regular production and offerings.

Klivet is an innovative residential villa being constructed by A-hus in Fjärås, located just south of Gothenburg.

30 percent reduction

"Klivet" is a house that bears many similarities to the energy-efficient timber houses we construct today, but through a series of modifications, it is estimated to achieve a climate footprint reduction of up to 30 percent:

  • Foundation - wood instead of concrete
  • Roof - asphalt shingles instead of concrete
  • Walls - bio-based insulation
  • Energy - ventilation heat recovery
